Blog Comments for SEO Back Links

It is widely know that getting back links to your site will improve your rankings with the search engines but getting links by leaving blog comments is commonly over looked.

Those of you that aren't using blog comments for back link have probably heard some on tell you about no follow tags and how the search engines won't follow the link from comment on blogs.

This is both true and not true at the same time. Yes, a vast majority of the blogs you find will have the no follow tag on the comments. But there are some that don't have no follow tags.

WordPress by default adds the no follow tags to the comment section but there are people that will remove the no follow tags from your comments in return for you leaving comments. Believe it or not there is a way you can find these blogs with a search.

Before I get into what to look for to find blogs without the no follow tag I want to cover comment etiquette.

Your comments MUST BE on topic, if can't come up with a comment on topic don't leave one.

For example if the post is on blog comments your comment should be related to that post and have something to do with the content of the post. Don't leave a comment talking about how to conquer the newest MLM offering.

You shouldn't put a link in the body of your comment unless it is directly related to the post and is information that won't fit in the comment itself, such as a video.

I recommend that you set your blog up so that if there are links in the body of the comment it will go to the comment moderation. This way you will have to approve the comment before it shows up on your blog. This will keep the spammy comments of your blog.

Now your name or I should say the form field where you enter your name. This should be your name or your moniker. For example I will use Randy The Hermit because more people know me that way than by my normal last name. Your moniker can have keywords in it (only helps if there are not any no follow tags) but it should be related to you or what you do. For example if you teach people how to blog you could use the moniker Blog Boy or Blogging Teacher but your moniker should stay the same no matter what you use for a link.

That is brief overview of comment etiquette, basically it is the "Golden Rule" don't do anything on another person's blog you wouldn't want done on yours. But I bet there are still of bunch of you asking why you should bother if the no follow tad is in place?

There are a number of reasons why you should do this:

1.It is still a link to your site that people will see and possibly follow. If you leave 5 blog comments per day that is 1,500 links in a year that might catch the eye of the reader and could get you traffic.

2.If you comments adds value to the topic of the post the author and readers will start to recognize your name and you will be branding yourself as an expert.

3.Just like above if your comment is interesting people will click on your link out of curiosity just to see what else you have to say.

4.If you are selling advertising on your site through a service like text link ads they sometimes do their own back link research and ignore the no follow tag. This could result in you receiving more income from your ads.

If comments have the no follow tag activated how do you tell?

One way is to go to the blog and find a post with comments and look at the page source, find the comment and see if it has no follow tag on the link. This is a pain but it works.

A better way is to use an addon for the FireFox or Flock browser (these are the browsers you should be using). This addon is called SEO for FireFox it is provided by SEOTools.com or you can find it by searching for SEO for FireFox addon in Google.

This addon will give you a bunch of information that can be used for SEO but the one feature that we are interested in now is the no follow highlighting. What it does is look at all the links on the page your viewing and highlights all the no follow links in red. If the name in the blog comment isn't red then the no follow is shut off on that blog.

Then there is another plugin that some people add to their WordPress blogs that will reward the frequent commenter. It is called Lucia's Linky Love.

How it works it the owner of the blog can set the plugin so that after so many posts the no follow tag is removed from the comments of that person.

It checks the name and email address to see if this person has ever commented before and keeps track of all the ones that match. If you use different names (which has already been pointed out as a no no) or different emails you will never have the no follow tags removed.

Most commonly this is set at 3 to 5 posts before the no follow tags are removed but the blog master can set if from 3 to a million if they like.

How do you find blogs that use Lucia's Linky Love plugin? The easiest way is to use Google's Blogsearch, put your keywords in quotes and then put a plus sign and then Lucia's Linky in quotes and do you search. It should look something like this "keyword phrase"+"Lucia's Linky" you results should sow you posts that are related to your keywords and using Lucia's Linky Love plugin.

I use this on my blogs and I have it set at three. Because I read the comments and if they are spammy I delete them manual link spammers never get the three links they need. This encourages better comments and more comments.

Get Googled-Indexed Fast To Make Money With Website Marketing

After all the time you've spent getting everything up and running, the last thing you want to do is wait for the search engine spiders -- the Google spider -- to crawl your site. You're ready to make money with website marketing and you want to get indexed by Google as quickly as is humanly possible. Okay, I'm with you. Let's look at your options.

You can find Google's submission form at www.google.com/addurl. It seems like it's really easy and convenient, and it is. You just enter you url and hit the submit button.

It might be easy and convenient, but it won't get your site indexed any time soon. You'll have to wait four weeks, or six week, or eight weeks. Maybe longer. I don't know, because I haven't done it. But I've heard horror stories from friends who were eager to make money with website marketing and instead found themselves typing their domain in Google's search engine for weeks to see if it was indexed yet.

Think about it. If you submit to Google, you'll take your place in a very long line of others who are doing the same. A thousand people? No, surely more than that. A hundred thousand? Probably more.

Well, you don't have to take your place in line if you don't want to. You can get this whole process moving. You want to make money with website marketing, not sit around waiting forever for Google to spider your site.

Google really loves one-way links. If the links are from a so-called "authority" site, so much the better. So here it is in a nutshell: if you want to get your site indexed fast, another site has to link to your site -- preferable one with authority and page rank. "But my site is new, who's going to link to it?" you ask. Relax. Here's how you can get those links.

You've probably heard of Folk'd, MyLinkVault, Furl. They're social networking sites where people go to hang out and interact, post their favorite URLs to share them with others, comment and vote on what they like. Posting your favorite URL at one of these sites is called "bookmarking."

So you go to one of these sites and you post your own URL. Fill out their new registration or sign-up form, become a member, follow their instructions for "bookmarking" a site, and submit it. That's it. Sometimes your site will be indexed in a matter of days. Sometimes it will actually be indexed in matter of hours. I know it's true, because I've done it for each of my sites.

Because the content on the social networking sites is constantly changing due to the fact that people are always submitting stuff, Google's spider loves visiting these sites frequently. So if you've posted -- "bookmarked" -- your own site, the spider will follow the link back to your site. When it does, you're indexed. That means you can start to make money with website marketing.

Here's a list of some of the social networking sites, with their ranking, from highest to lowest. If you Google "social networking sites" you'll no doubt find others. Just make certain they're not "nofollow" sites if you post to them.
